How ONS Foundation Helps
Academic scholarships, research grants, community education projects, nursing education web casts,
lectureships, and career development awards are just a few of the many tremendous opportunities that
ONS Foundation makes available to oncology nurses. With generous support from our partners, ONS
Foundation has awarded more than 1,200 scholarships, research grants, and awards to oncology nurses
and nurse researchers since the organization's inception in 1981. Today, ONS Foundation is the
second largest funder of nursing-related research in the world - second only to the U.S. federal
government. In addition, ONS Foundation has provided more than 5,000 oncology nurses nationwide with
oncology nursing-focused regional education workshops and web casts.
ONS Foundation is committed to using donor dollars to advance oncology nursing. In fact, in 2002, 84%
of ONS Foundation's expenses were used to provide educational and research opportunities for oncology
nurses.
